Induction
Day One
In the morning, I was introduced to the lecturers Justin, Luke, Tony and Sophia who told us about the course and what we'd be doing for the next 3 Terms. Afterwards, we where set a task to try and see who could find the most about our peers (whom most of us didn't know). During this activity I met Talitha, Sophie, Matt and other students who are on the course.
Later, before lunch I did a treasure hunt around the college with Palina. This was a way to get us to understand the layout of the campus and find places that would be useful to us I.e the Library, the Shop and Marie’s office. This was really fun and competitive but also educational as I didn’t know much about the layout of the college.

When we came back from lunch, we where split into groups of two or three and introduced to a “Induction Project”. I was in a team with Patrick and Lukas then the teams had to randomly select an object.
Our object was a plant pot with fake yellow flowers on it and four female stick figures on the pot. We began by creating three unique story-boards and then came to a conclusion of who's idea we liked most.
At first our ideas weren’t very creative and we where quite stuck on what we would do for the 1 minute video, however, after some advice from Tony, we had our idea. We decided that the fake flower was going to search for real flowers on a MacBook. Although this sounds weird, it has some symbolance as the plant is look at something that is real but itself is fake.
(The green reads: "Fake plant searching for real plants" "Advertisement" and "Day of the Triffids").
During a small break, Lukas took Patrick and myself outside to a bench where we learnt about his DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera.
Lukas took us to the Speingboard, although we didn’t use the lens, we borrowed it to see if it could provide a better zoom of Lukas’ camera (we discovered that the lens was clearer however had too much zoom for our shots).
Furthermore, we also conducted our first shot of the plant pot production as we had some spare time and where in the room we wanted to film in. The shot was a slow movement of the plant towards the MacBook’s keyboard and that was all. Our day ended shortly afterward.
Day Two
Today, we met James Fox (aka Foxy), who told us about himself and what he's done. He also told us how he could help us on our course. With help from Luke and Justin, they introduced us to our blogs and notified us about all the things that are expected to be on them.
(This is Foxy, he's funny).

Between 13:00 and 14:00, we where taught about the codes of conduct. Collectively, we decided on five appropriate ones that would benefit everyone that is not only in the class but the other classes as well (such as no food & drink in the computer rooms).
We then moved back into our production groups (Patrick, Lukas and Karla) towards the end of the day. Together we shot the last couple of scenes of minute long video. We also used the studio's green screen for one of our scenes. Patrick role was to interview "Mr Plant", Lukas was the camera operator and me & Karla where the directors. Subsequently, we went into a computer to make sure our video and audio had all been captured correctly.
Day Three
The last day of Induction was my favourite day as I was nervous anymore and we where had a lesson of Post Production (editing) and we where introduced to the Springboard properly.
Justin taught us about 'i' and 'o' on Premier Pro, which allowed us to accurately cut clips from the scenes we had gotten with the plastic plant.
Once our production was finished, the level 2 students where brought into the room to view everyone's projects with us (unfortunately our video was played first which was slightly embarrassing but someone has to be first).
